Doctor Nicole Evans is celebrating her 50th with a birthday walk to raise funds for the Wilderness Search and Rescue! She will tackle 50kms of good; cheers to that!

Somerset West, South Africa (24 August 2023) — Doctor Nicole Evans is celebrating her birthday in an extra-special way this year by dedicating her 50th to Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR). She’ll be walking 50kms for the heroes of WSAR who have rescued countless people, but also to honour a family member who lost their life on Table Mountain.

Back in 2021, Kim Williams passed away after slipping on Kloof Corner Ridge. A WSAR team sped to the site as soon as the call-out was made, but Williams has fallen to his death. However, the heroes of WSAR have made numerous other rescue stories possible, and this is what Dr Evans is spotlighting.

“WSAR volunteers are saints. Their extraordinary efforts, across multiple rescue disciplines, are such a gift to the outdoor lovers of the Western Cape. WSAR deserves all our support.

“My walk is a simple gesture to help, in my small way,” she shared.

Dr Evans will tackle her birthday walk on Saturday, 26 August and has invited others to join her for just a 5km or to contribute R50 or even R5 to the cause.

You can support her birthday walk and the WSAR here.
