Razina and Kabira Dewan have written a book together, highlighting the joyful art of painting rocks and leaving them around SA to be found.

South Africa (29 February 2024) – 11-year-old Razina and her mom, Kabira, have a passion for painting rocks. This passion inspired them to write a helpful book about the subject called “Kindness Rocks“.

Finding a painted rock is supposed to inspire kindness and hope. The idea is to spread a little piece of joy to an unknown stranger. Finding a rock is often a little gift you never knew you wanted.

Most rocks will be beautifully painted on one side and contain some form of information on the back. You are encouraged to snap a picture and share it on the group mentioned on the back if you find one. That way, the original creator can see their rock and where it has ended up.

Razina and Kabira’s book will cover topics like:

  • Everything you need to know about Kindness Rocks
  • What to do when you find a Kindness Rock
  • Ideas Gallery to get your creativity started
  • How to prepare your rocks
  • Where to source supplies
  • Where to hide and find Kindness Rocks in South Africa
  • Kindness Rock Gardens
  • Completing your rock

They are marketing the book to for the complete beginner. Supporting the pair supports Razina’s dream of sharing kindness in rock-art-form.

You can find out more about the book by emailing Kariba here. There are groups based all around South Africa dedicated to the art of painting rocks which you can join here.
