Mamma Wezzie worked hard and saved a small fortune to be able to go home to see her children. It had been seven years since she last saw them. On the day she was finally set to embark on her long-awaited journey, she was robbed. But, only a few hours later, a miracle happened:
Midrand, South Africa (05 October 2023) — It’s been seven long years since Mamma Wezzie has been able to see her children.
The chapter of longing was almost over for Mamma Wezzie, who worked and saved tirelessly to fund her way home. The fateful day arrived on 3 October, and she was almost on her way back to Malawi when life dealt her a tragic blow.
As Tiffani Hein explains to Good Things Guy, her beloved Mama Wezzie (who is essential in helping the Maletsatsi Foundation) was held hostage at gunpoint yesterday evening, the same day she was set to finally go home.
Tiffani adds that Wezzie was driven around while all her money was withdrawn by the perpetrators.
This after all her determined saving and even deciding not to take leave for two years.
After Wezzie told Tiffani what had happened, the call to turn these happenings around was sent out.
Taking to the Maletsatsi Foundation’s social media, Tiffani made a plea for anyone who was able, to help replenish what had been stolen.
“If you are able to help us replenish this precious human’s family fund- we’d love so dearly to at least replenish R7500 of what was taken from her today,” she shared at the time.
Not long after, as it so often does, kindness stepped out of the shadows.
“Within three hours of me posting yesterday, I was able to drive to our beautiful Wezzie’s home and replenish her entire fund!” Tiffani shared.
In just three hours, community kindness turned tragedy into triumph, and we are unashamedly chopping onions.
As Tiffani adds, “Wezzie one of the purest humans you’ll ever meet. She is kind and gentle and so so happy… all the time! We simply couldn’t run this crazy family without her!”
Today, Mamma Wezzie got on her bus, homebound.
Today, someone’s faith in humanity has just been restored.
