A woman is being praised for her efforts in getting her beloved dog to the vet after it was attacked by another dog; she walked through the rain with her dog strapped to her back.

Cape Town, South Africa (06 September 2023) – The Peoples Dispensary for Sick Animals South Africa (PDSA – SA) shared heartwarming photos of a woman who carried her dog on her back to get medical care after it was attacked by another dog.

She strapped her injured pet to her back and braved the rain to reach the vet for help. This is a beautiful commitment and shows that pet owners will do just about anything to care for their animals.

“We salute owners who find a way to bring their animals to our hospital. This owner walked quite a distance with her dog tied to her back after he was attacked by another dog. Thank you for being such an amazing human to your furkid” – PDSA – SA

For many pet owners living in informal areas, taxis will not permit the transportation of animals. This means having to get creative. In the past, we have shared stories of pet owners using wheelbarrows, buckets and their own two feet to get their animals medical care. Often, these dedicated people walk for hours to make sure their pet is helped.

The constant here is love and it moves us every time we get sent stories like this. This woman’s actions are the reason we are smiling today!

PDSA-SA works to support communities in South Africa. They are based in Cape Town, George and Soweto. The organisation offers clinical support to animals in need, giving families without means, the chance to get proper care for their animals. You can follow their stories via Facebook here.
