Parkdene Secondary School, with the help of funds collected from the parents, sponsors, and the school’s governing body, renovated their bathrooms for the female staff and children.
George, South Africa (23 August 2021) – One of the basic necessities in schools, which is highly underrated, is clean toilets and bathrooms with proper facilities.
Studies show that there are high chances of risk, especially with the female population, when the bathrooms are unsanitary or when appropriate facilities haven’t been installed. Though the nations’ governments across the globe have been working on improving these facilities, it is evident that we still have a long way to go.
While many schools are still waiting for the government to take steps regarding appropriate bathrooms, a no-fee high school, Parkdene Secondary School, located at George in the Western Cape, proceeds to make a change themselves.
They have renovated the bathrooms for female staff and children by collecting funds for this cause, warming the hearts of many people around the globe.
The principal of the school, Derick Petersen, says that this was possible because of the support and funds received from the parents, sponsors, and the governing bodies of the school.
With this been done around the time of Women’s Month, the principal states that they are honoured to have such standard and lovely bathrooms for their girl child learners and the female staff.
