Every knight in shining armour needs a noble steed, and for SANParks Honorary Rangers (who have become fundamental to so many conservation missions) these steeds will hopefully take on the form of e-bikes!

Cape Town, South Africa (29 January 2024) — South African National Park’s Honorary Rangers are growing from strength to strength as a fundamental cohort in conservation. The volunteers continue to show up for South Africa’s wildlife, natural treasures and other people working hard behind the scenes on the trails we all love in a magnitude of ways; whether that’s meant rebuilding, protecting, or making either mission possible through fundraising.

If you need any testament to what they’ve been up to, just take a look at how their contributions helped SANParks grow by 5% which totalled R80 million. But as these honorary heroes continue curating a path to a South Africa we’re all proud to be part of, they need something fundamental: a faster and safer way to get around!

Every knight in shining armour needs a noble steed, and for SANParks Honorary Rangers who take care of Table Mountain National Park, these steeds will hopefully take on the form of e-bikes!

The Honorary Rangers are embarking on a big fundraising project to help them get those e-bikes off their vision boards and into reality. According to SANParks, the need for e-bikes has increased thanks to an increased risk of crime on Table Mountain.

“Tasked with protecting the park, their work is challenging and, at times, dangerous. Our e-bike campaign will enhance their mobility and support them in doing their best work possible, keeping the mountain safer for all,” share SANParks.

To help get the momentum peddling, a crowdfunding campaign in honour of the honorary has kickstarted. Putting more skin in the game, a number of Rangers will put their abilities to the test in the upcoming Cape Town Cycle Tour to rally support.

You can find the crowdfunding campaign here, and all funds raised will go to getting additional wheels on the ground.
