A story about a taxi driver has gone viral for all the right reasons after the best taxi driver helped a disabled passenger and made her day that much easier.
Gauteng, South Africa (24 April, 2023) — After a South African went viral for paying every passenger’s fare, another feel-good taxi story came about, this time from the seat of the taxi driver.
Taking to social media, Lebo Mosweu shared the ‘knight in a shining taxi’ moment that made her trip to work that morning unexpectedly wonderful. And, the kind act didn’t even happen to her.
She shared that taxi driver had gone out of his way to make sure a disabled passenger could get to where she needed to be, and even went as far as to help her once they’d arrived.
In the backseat passenger’s words:
“This is the taxi I took this morning to work. What amazed me about my trip today is the driver. He had a young lady passenger who was on a wheelchair. She was sitting in the front seat.
When she reached the point where she needed to get off, the driver asked her where she was going? She then pointed the area out to him. He then turned the taxi around, away from the route he normally takes.
When he reached her destination, he then got out, picked her up and put her on her wheelchair. I could see how happy she was about the whole experience. May the good Lord bless this driver.” — Lebo Mosweu.
Soon, other people began sharing their taxi hero moments, with another passenger in the Western Cape, Jo-jo Johanna-Marie Wulff, sharing that a driver she knows as Amo always goes out of his way to make her trips easier experiences:
“As I’m struggling with my legs, he goes out of his way to me make me as comfortable as possible. He always comes up with a plan to accommodate me in any way.”
Thousands of people saluted ‘The Best Taxi Driver’. Another day on the job to some, is another day to make change for others, one passenger at a time.
