Faf and Miné de Klerk made sure their soon-to-be baby bok got an especially South African baby shower! While the baby’s gender hasn’t been revealed, one thing is for certain: this will be a proudly South African tot:

South Africa (29 January 2024) — Faf de Klerk and his wife Miné shared snaps of Baba de Klerk’s baby shower, and the South African touch left locals and Springboks fans nodding in approval.

While most baby showers might go for pastel colours, baba de Klerk (who will be the rugby royalty family’s firstborn) got bright splashes of green and gold balloons. Since proud locals consider our blood to be green and gold (whether rugby fans, expats, everyday heroes or local is lekker enthusiasts), it gave the baby shower a super special South African feel. This might be the start of a trend that we’d love to see!

It couldn’t be more fitting for the family, especially considering that Faf has shared his love for South Africa both in unconventional but iconic ways (wearing our flag in speedo form for any occasion) and by virtue of being the legendary scrum-half who helped us win the World Cup more than once.

While the gender of the baby bok hasn’t yet been confirmed (the pregnancy itself was only revealed earlier this month) one thing is certain: this will be a proudly South African tot!

Meanwhile in other news of Springboks legends welcoming extensions to their families, Analina and Eben Etzebeth welcomed their baby boy into the world on 16 January 2024.

Other South African sweethearts expecting include former Miss World Rolene Strauss, whose baby gender reveal didn’t go quite as expected, but was filled with joy nonetheless:
