The South African Youth Choir spend their December break practising to take part in the Cape Minstrels Choir Competition.

Cape Town, South Africa (26 January 2024) – Several members of the South African Youth Choir (SAYC) got to compete in the Cape Minstrels Choir Competition recently after months of practising for the big performance. Stepping into the colourful and culturally rich realm of Cape Minstrel performing, the combined choir got to celebrate a beautiful part of South Africa’s heritage.

Cape Minstrels signify a vibrant celebration of rich history, bringing crowds to their feet with the rhythmic beats of drums, brass instruments, and joyous laughter.

The Cape Minstrels Choir Competition brings together thousands of performers who compete against the best and brightest performers.

The South African Youth Choir shared that the group put in many hours of practice to take part in this year’s competition.

“Last Saturday, a group of our choir members performed with the Juvie Boy Entertainers at Athlonestadion in the Combined Category of the Cape Minstrels Choir Competition ✨️💫

We’ve spent many long hours rehearsing with the Juvies during our holiday break, but it ended up to be an amazing experience and worth all our extreme efforts! ✨️💫 Our conductor also led several rehearsal sessions with the Juvie Boys throughout the holidays!” – SAYC

They even dressed to impress! You can see all the pictures from their exciting day here.
