This World NGO Day, honour the men and women who run the organisations closest to your heart by singing their praises (and maybe dropping off a treat).

Global (25 February 2024) – The 27th of February is World NGO Day, a day dedicated to the organisations that serve our communities. In South Africa, thousands of organisations are behind the growth and sustainability of projects that serve people and animals.

World NGO Day was founded in 2014 and is observed in over 89 countries across 6 continents. The day was founded by the UN, European Union Leaders and various international organisations.

“Back in 2014, the 27th of February became a historic day for the NGO community worldwide. This international calendar day, now known as “World NGO day,” was inaugurated for the first time internationally.

World NGO Day is an international day dedicated to recognize, celebrate and honour all non-governmental and nonprofit organizations, and the people behind them that contribute to the society all year around.” – World NGO Day

The day is a way for people to celebrate the organisations close to their own hearts. If you know of an NGO that could do with a boost, visit the team with a homemade cake and let them know the gift is specifically for them – as thanks for the hard work they do 365 days a year.

If you can’t give something physical, how about words of kindness, thanks and praise go a very very long way!

Name some of your best NGOs and the people that run them in the comment sections, let them know you see the incredible things they do.
