According to Marco Roth Johannesburg represents the ultimate success and failure of industrialisation in Africa.

South Africa (28 February 2016) – Self-proclaimed 21-year-old media addict, Marko Roth, narrates stories about people behind the scenes, using his striking photos and videos.

“Failure, because it is impossible to ignore the gap between rich and poor, the violence, the expansion of slums in entire metropolitan areas. Success, because there is no other place in South Africa where they discuss the future of the country and its cultural groups more openly,” Roth writes.

Cape Town meanwhile is a city divided between the vibrant Mother City and her neglected children, the settlements.

“The settlements differ widely – but still no one wants to live in any of them. You can’t find public transport and rarely an operating sewerage system,” Roth writes.

But amidst the contradictions, if there is anything that starred in his eyes – it is the spectacular natural beauty of our country.

Roth was in South Africa with three friends and captured the entire experience in this inspirational video.
