Wayne Bolton is going to be cycling through 20 private and provincial rhino bearing parks to raise awareness for the conservation of the species!
In 2015/2016 Wayne Bolton took on the task of cycling over 6000km to connect all 19 of the SANparks. The expedition took him 2 and a half months to complete and he did it all to raise funds towards anti-poaching initiatives.
The expedition is called the OLLI (acronym for One Land Love It) Frontier Rhino Ride. This year he plans to take on a new expedition. He will only be doing 2000km’s but will be linking 20 private and provincial parks that are home to Rhino’s.
The goal is to raise R1 million in funds that will be used to aid anti-poaching efforts in South Africa.
Over July Wayne will cycle 2000kms connecting 20 private and provincial rhino bearing parks drawing attention to the conservation work that they are doing, paying tribute to the commitment of their rangers and raising funds for Care for Wild Africa (a rhino orphanage endorsed by SANParks and the largest in the world).
Our expedition starts in PE on the 1 July and will continue through the Transkei into KZN, via Durban to finish on the Mozambique border. We will complete the last corner of South Africa drawing attention a frontier currently feeling the brutal impact of poaching.
Brandon Booth, a student from Woodridge College will be attempting to join Wayne for the first 110km’s. He has been helping to raise funds by collecting donations p/km.
Despite the challenges of Woodridge in the recent fire Brandon is still committed to supporting OLLI – he initiated contact and has been driving fund raising on his own and supporting Olli at recent Mall visit
The route being followed is below, starting at the Kragga Kamma Game Park in Port Elizabeth and finishing at the Mozambique boarder. Best of luck to Wayne! We will keep you all posted on the progress of the ride throughout July!
