Independence

Mbali Mahlale was born with a strong desire for independence and a determined heart! Born without any arms, she has never let that get the better of her!

Mbali Mahlale was born without any arms, now in grade 4 she has proved just how independent and willing to learn she is! Mbali is a learner at Myngenoegen English Private School, in Dalmada, Polokwane, where she is the only differently-abled learner.

She has taught herself to write with her feet, she can feed herself and even wash some of her clothing. She uses her right foot to write and her left foot to eat, dress and bathe.

Mbali thrives on her independence, her favorite thing to do with friends is skip rope and play ball. Her friends Theto Moreroa and Naledi Moganedi say there isn’t anything she can’t do.

Mbali is a shining star at her school, her teacher sings her praise. Mbali’s life goal is to become a doctor one day!

“Mbali is doing very well and her performance is out of this world,” – Sophy Maluleke, Mbali’s teacher.

Vutlhari, Mbali’s mother recently approached the Polokwane Hospital in the hopes of getting artificial limbs for her daughter. Her worry is that as Mbali gets older she will need them to help. The hospital sadly gave Vutlhari no hope in getting artificial limbs.

Thankfully the spokesman for the provincial department of health, Derrick Kganyago has confirmed they would be looking to assist the family.

“We will discuss ways to make an intervention,”

We have faith that this young lady will continue to live her most successful life no matter the outcome!
