After angels stepped in to take two tiny fighters out of a life where scavenging for food from the trash was a norm, they have grown in life’s most precious leaps and bounds:
Midrand, South Africa (06 December 2023) — Two tiny fighters had a very rough start to life. At just 5 years old, “P” was responsible for taking care of her younger sibling, “M”, who was only 1 year old.
Parental care was not something they knew at a time most critical for children their age. Neither was food, which meant that scavenging for scraps from the trash was a norm.
This was a life that is now, thankfully, very far behind them thanks to children’s heroes at the Maletsatsi Foundation.
According to the foundation’s founder, Tiffani Hein, they have slowly but surely grown in life’s most precious leaps and bounds. Where little M could not even make eye contact or hold their head up, the child is now on par with others that age. As for P, a world where they can smile freely, have fun and release survival mode has become familiar. These are the moments that make all the challenges worth it.
“Survivors by nature, these two children have moved literal mountains in the last ten months since their admission to our home, and now desperately need the security of a stable educational space in which to attempt to catch up their learning deficits,” shares Tiffani.
However, a new challenge lies ahead, and it’s one that’s importance cannot be overstated.
It’s time for the two tiny fighters to secure a suitable education for 2024. Understandably, they need a little extra care to overcome the developmental deficits life has afforded them.
The opportunity has arisen for P and M to join a school in the area and fully integrate into a world and future that a one time, they did not know could be a possibility.
The Maletsatsi Foundation’s school fees budget has to cover many children’s educational needs and makes up a big chunk of their expenses.
Their big ask is to the public to help them send these two to a school that will give them more than just an education, but healing from their past.
