It’s Giving Tuesday, a time to pay our savings from Black Friday and Cyber Monday forward! And, for the animal heroes at TEARS, it’s also a day where just R20 could change their world:
Cape Town,South Africa (28 November, 2023)—Today is ‘Giving Tuesday‘, the day where, after Black Friday and Cyber Monday spoils have settled in, we’re all encourage to spare some change and thoughts for the less fortunate. Most shoppers would’ve saved a lot more than R20 on the goods they copped. So, what if that R20 could change the world? Or at least, the world of one shelter?
TEARS Animal Rescue’s ‘R20 to Change the World’ campaign has fueled them with optimism, making today a calendar highlight of hope.
This is the first time the Animal Shelter has aligned a fundraising campaign with Giving Tuesday, and hopes are high that if enough people donate R20, they’ll be able to meet their fundraising shortfalls to keep their mission alive and thriving.
Every R20 will go toward their Veterinary Hospital and Mobile Clinic teams, which are the beating heart of all TEARS does to change the lives of injured, homeless and sick animals.
The donations will also make their way to the Kennel and Cattery (a haven for animals in need), which collectively rehabilitates and rehomes 1000 rescue pets annually.
“We’re optimistic that we can set a record for the most amount of money donated to a Cape Town based animal rescue charity on any previous GivingTuesday. If each one of our social media followers pledges support for this campaign we’ll raise in excess of R1M, which will powerfully demonstrate how each person’s “small change” can make a big collective difference,” says Lara Van Rensburg, TEARS Head of Marketing and Fundraising.
“Giving Tuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year,” comments Asha Curran, Giving Tuesday’s Chief Executive Officer. “With country and community leaders, millions of organisations, and countless givers of all kinds, Giving Tuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.”
